Folded Gift Bag Die Set Felt + Paper Valentines Treat Bags

Morning, friends!

Welcome back to the blog. Today I'm sharing another Valentine's Day idea using items from my new January release. This time I'm featuring the Folded Gift Bag Die Set. I had a few ideas that I'd been dying to try out so I'm excited to share them with you today!

Let's get started...

For each bag I used a different material and edge design for the top. If you want to skip the decorative edge altogether, simply trim a straight line to connect the two outer bag edges to "release" the bag from the paper.

NOTE: This die does not cut a top edge, meaning once you die cut it the bag will still be attached to the paper. You must roll it through the machine again with either the paper bag or scalloped edge lined along the edge. Each decorative edge has vertical notches on the ends that will help you "hook" the edge into the sides of the bag and run through your machine. It's best to tape down the edge with a little piece of washi tape to keep it secure.

Phew, now that I have that written...

Felt Scalloped Edge Treat Bag with Heart Window...

Soooo, one of my big ideas was to cut one of my bags from felt. Well, I will say that it turned out cute, however the inside of the bag is a mess. I cut it from wool felt which cuts perfectly, however, has no stability. To help bulk it up a little I added some cardstock pieces inside glued to the felt. That helped a bit. In hindsight I would have ironed on some of that stuff that makes fabric thicker...do you know what I'm talking about?? When I was making this I knew the name of it but now it completely escapes me.

For this bag I also used the detachable heart window for the front panel. I was surprised to see that even the stitching edge presses into the felt. Such a cute detail. To complete the window I adhered a piece of vellum to the inside of the bag. I added some paper crinkle inside and tied the bag shut with some red and white twine. Of course I added a sweet tag made with the die included in the set and stamped a few elements from my Love Ya stamp set on top.

Now comes the hard part...what treats do I put inside?!

Kraft Paper Bag Edge Treat Bag...

Ever since I designed this die set I've been itching to die-cut it with the paper bag edge from kraft cardstock. And now that I've finally done it I can saw that my day is made. It just looks way too cute. Can't you just imagine little teeny tiny groceries stuffed in there?!

Anyways, after I die-cut and assembled the bag I glued on the pink felt heart that was left over from the previous bag. Around the heart I added some stitching lines with a white gel pen to mimic the impression of the other one. I also decided to use the hole reinforcers on this bag and die-cut them from light pink cardstock. I really wanted to heart to be the main design element of this bag so I just added twine to finish it off.

There are so many other possibilities for this die set and I can't wait to explore those in the future. I'm thinking I need to head off to the store for some sweet treats to stuff inside these. Any suggestions?

Oh, and let me know which bag is your favorite in the comments below!
